Bosch Automotive - Diagnostic Tool
Software and Code Ltd was engaged to develop a diagnostic testing tool to be used during automotive production for clients including Jaguar/Land Rover, Ford and Volve.
In an automotive production plant, as cars move down the a subset of vehicles are tested at a number of test stations along the production line. The purpose of these tests is for quality control, ensuring the car is setup and configured in accordance with the technical specifications of the vehicle.
These tests involve plugging a computer device into the vehicle over a CANBUS interface, the vehicle is then commanded to run a number of tests, reporting back the results to the workstation.
Software and Code developed a diagnostic data capturing service, whose purpose it was to capture all of data from the tests in a suitable format and then upload this data to a central server. This service was hosted on each test station and was written in C++ on a Windows OS.
We then developed a desktop based UI tool, written in C# .NET Framework WPF application. This application would present the data captured in a number of graphical formats, to allow technicians to diagnose and fault find any issues which occurred during the running of tests on a particular vehicle.
